Fitur Screen will be the meeting point of the audio visual and touristic industries, in Ifema Madrid, from the 22nd to 26th January 2020.
Spain Film Commission will distinguish Aitana Sánchez Gijón as Honorary Ambassador of this entity. The designation will take place on Thursday, 23rd January at 11.30h in FITUR 2020 within the space FITUR SCREEN (Pavilion 4, stand FS05). As ambassador, she will have the mission to collaborate on spreading the advantages that Spain treasures to attract international shootings and the possibilities and talent of its audio visual professionals.
Aitana Sánchez Gijón made her debut at the age of 16, and since then she has participated in 40 feature films and 15 TV series, she has worked with filmmakers such as Pilar Miró, Vicente Aranda, Fernando Fernán Gómez and Bigas Luna. With the latter she obtained a Conch de Plata in 1999 San Sebastián Film Festival for her performance in the film “Volavérunt”. In 1998, she was the first woman to preside the Cinema Academy, position that she held until 2000. She is also member of the Union of Actors.
Together with Aina Sánchez Gijón, Spain Film Commission also will distinguish the photography director Javier Aguirresarobe for his wide trajectory which comprises acknowledged films like “The Others”, “The Sea Inside”, “Dream of Light”, “Talk to her” or “The Enchanted Forest”.
During FITUR SCREEN’s last edition, James Costos, USA’s ex ambassador in Spain, received the distinction of Honorary Ambassador of Spain Film Commission for his compromise with the creation of bonds between the Spanish and North American cinema industries.
For the second consecutive year, Spain Film Commission presents a specific program aimed to the tourism professionals in order to make the features and advantages of shooting in Spain known and boost screen tourism in our country.
FITUR SCREEN intends to become a platform that allows connecting the touristic and cinema industries, improving the knowledge on screen tourism, encourage commercial exchange among different actors and make future proposals to develop this sector in Spain. A cinema or television shooting, besides of its impact on the local economy, constitutes a powerful tool to promote the different territories of a country in the touristic industry. According to the official data provided by APPA, the economy generated by cinema and series shootings reaches 646 million euros annually, as well as 457 million euros that advertisement shootings generate.
FITUR SCREEN will count with its own space in FITUR 2020, which will be divided: an exhibition area where the different participants, a 50% more than last year, will be able to promote their proposals on screen tourism; a B2B area to boost commercial encounters among different actors that participate in this sector; and a stage aimed to develop the program of presentations, exhibitions and conferences organized by Spain Film Commission.
