"Maixabel, Best Audiovisual Production Spain Film Commission 2022

The actor Luis Tosar and the actress Blanca Portillo, main characters in the film directed by Iciar Bollaín, will receive the award as part of FITUR SCREEN 2022 next Friday, January 21st, at IFEMA (Madrid).

 

Spain Film Commission highlights with this election the good moment of Spanish production, which promotes projects of the highest quality, has a powerful business fabric, top-level technical and artistic professionals and is successfully positioned in the world.

 

The jury, composed of the Board of Directors of the Spain Film Commission, has awarded this Prize to "Maixabel" for the true story it tells, the treatment of the script, the talent and sensitivity of its director, the interpretation of its actors and actresses, the diversity of the locations and their contribution to the international diffusion of spanish cinema.

 

“Maixabel”, presented by Vitoria-Gasteiz Film Office, has been selected from a list of ten audiovisual works, films and tv shows shot and/or premiered in 2021 in locations throughout Spain, proposed by the Film Commissions and Film Offices partners of Spain Film Commission.

 

The two finalists are “La Fortuna” (Madrid Film Office and Zaragoza Film Office) and “Las Leyes de la Frontera” (Catalunya Film Commission) which, together with “Pan de limón con semillas de amapola” (Mallorca Film Commission), “Palabras para un fin del mundo” (Castilla y León Film Commission), “El Cid” (Soria Film Commission), “Sky Rojo” (Canary Islands Film), “La hija” (Andalucía Film Commission), “El páramo” (Aragón Film Commission) and “El Internado” (Navarra Film Commission), formed the candidacy for Best Audiovisual Production SFC 2022.

 

Spain Film Commission, faithful to its commitment to promote Spain as a preferred destination for the filming industry, considers that "Maixabel" represents the excellences of our country to consolidate itself in the international market as the most attractive and competitive "European Audiovisual HUB".

 

“La casa de papel”, “La peste” and “The Crown” received in 2018, 2019 and 2020 respectively this same Award, which has been consolidated in the four editions so far as a referent of prestige in the national and international audiovisual sector.

 

“Maixabel”, which has fourteen nominations for the “Goya”, is produced by Kowalski Films (Koldo Zuazua) and FeelGood (Juan Moreno and Guillermo Sempere), has the participation of RTVE, EITB and MOVISTAR+, with the help of the Ministry of Culture (ICAA), the Basque Government and the Provincial Council of Guipúzcoa, and the collaboration of the San Sebastián-Gipuzkoa Film Commission and the Vitoria-Gasteiz Film Office.
