Fitur Screen 2022 starts this Wednesday 19th at 12am with an intense and attractive program of activities

The Madrid International Tourism Trade Fair Fitur starts tomorrow at the Ifema fairground, under the slogan "We embrace the world. We are Tourism", with the Dominican Republic as a partner country of the organisation. In the words of the president of Ifema, José Vicente de Los Mozos, this edition of Fitur "will mark a turning point in tourism activity and even more so at the start of a year in which great hopes have been placed for the take-off of the tourism business on a global level".

The Fitur Screen space, organised by Spain Film Commission and IFEMA, with the aim of promoting film routes to attract quality cultural tourism to Spain and contribute to the economic recovery of the sector, will be located in Hall 8. Besides having an auditorium for the programmed activities, there will be stands promoted by Film Commissions and Film Offices, where both the locations and the advantages of filming in each of the territories they represent will be publicised. La Rioja Film Commission, Valladolid Film Commission, Madrid Film Office - Film Madrid, Zaragoza Film Office, Andalucía Film Commission, Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, Castilla-La Mancha Film Commission, Cantabria Film Commission, Extremadura Film Commission (Extremadura audiovisual), Terrassa Film Office - Parc Audiovisual de Catalunya will be present at this edition.

 

 

THREE ROUND TABLES

The programme will have three round tables: the first, with the presence of Rishabh Chopra, general director of production of the company YashRaj Films and Juan Manuel Guimerans, general secretary of the Spain Film Commission, called Screen Grand Tour: Tourist Experiences.

 

On Thursday 20th we will have an international round table with the participation of Netflix, United Kingdom, Portugal and Dominican Republic. Esperanza Ibáñez, Director of Public Policy at NETFLIX, will moderate this meeting, which will include Adrian Wootton, Executive Director of the British Film Commission (telematically), Marianna Vargas, Director of the General Directorate of Cinema of the Dominican Republic, and Manuel Claro of the Portugal Film Commission.

 

The third round table will be focused on film tourism and mass media. It will be moderated by the director of the Seminci, Javier Angulo, and the speakers will be Javier Rioyo, director of the Cervantes Institute in Tangiers, and the journalist Elena Ortega.

 

SIGNING OF AGREEMENTS

Within the framework of Fitur Screen, next Friday, two key collaboration agreements will be signed to implement joint actions to strengthen the audiovisual sector: the first will be with ALIA (ALIANZA INDUSTRIA AUDIOVISUAL) and the second will be signed with the Union of Actors and Actresses.

  

HONORARY AMBASSADOR SFC 2022

Fitur Screen is also a suitable stage for the awarding of the distinction of Honorary Ambassador Spain Film Commission 2022 to Veronica Sullivan, Senior Vice President and Head of External Affairs for Global Production and State and Local Government at NBCUniversal. With this award, on Thursday 20th at 12.00h, Spain Film Commission will recognise Veronica Sullivan's professional career, her well-known experience and her relevant role in a prestigious company such as NBCUniversal.

  

BEST AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTION SFC 2022

On Friday 21st, actor Luis Tosar and actress Blanca Portillo will receive the award for Best Audiovisual Production Spain Film Commission 2022, awarded on this occasion to the film "Maixabel". The film, directed by Iciar Bollaín, has been selected from a list of ten audiovisual projects, films and series shot and/or premiered in 2021 in locations all over Spain, proposed by the Film Commissions and Film Offices partners of Spain Film Commission.

  

Numerous institutional visits will also be planned for the three days of the Programme of Activities, reaffirming the growing interest generated by film tourism

  

The Fitur Screen exhibitions can be followed via streaming from Fitur live connect, an advanced technological platform, accessible via web and mobile app, which is presented as a supplement to in-person participation at FITUR.

 

Fitur Screen is an initiative co-organised by the Spain Film Commission and Ifema-Madrid and is sponsored by the Secretary of State for Tourism, with the collaboration of Netflix and Seminci, Valladolid Film Festival.
