Annual assembly of the Spain Film Commission in Terrassa, Catalonia

On Thursday, June 28, the partners of the Spain Film Commission, thanks to the collaboration of the Terrassa Film Office, met in the Audio-visual Park of Catalonia to celebrate the annual assembly. With the incorporation in the last year of the City of Madrid Film Office, Canary Islands Film and La Rioja Film Commission, our offices’ network is represented in all the Autonomous Communities of Spain.

During the meeting, the results of the work realised by the Spain FC since the last assembly were analysed, highlighting the work carried out with the different parliamentary groups to enhance the tax incentives for international film shooting in Spain; the development of the Strategy 2.5 of the Culture Plan 2020 and, in particular, the programme “Spain Film Set” foreseen in the Plan; the signing of the framework agreement with Spain FC and the realisation of the development and enhancement actions of the brand “Shooting in Spain”; as well as the elaboration of a Strategic Plan on Cinematographic Tourism for Spain.

The strategy of the Spain Film Commission in the international film markets and the need for support from the institutions (ICAA, ICEX, TurEspaña, AC / E ...) in order to develop a state policy that attracts and facilitates the filming in Spain as established by the Culture Plan 2020 were also discussed during the meeting

In this last year we have been at the San Sebastian Film Festival, American Film Market, FOCUS London, European Film Market of the Berlinale, Marché du Film of Cannes and the Shanghai International Film Festival, under the slogan "Shooting in Spain - Rueda en España" highlighting the tax incentives, the diversity of our locations and the quality of professionals and audio-visual companies in Spain.

Among the works to be developed during the next semester we highlight the joint work with FITUR for the space dedicated to Cinematographic Tourism in this fair in 2019; the continuation of the contacts and work with the new decision-makers in the Ministries and with all the parliamentary groups to develop the agreements on incentives, film tourism and the strategies of the Culture Plan 2020.

At internal level we can highlight the extension of the WEB and the training to our associates thanks to the grant coming from Cultural Industries of the Ministry of Culture, the setting of a strategy for assistance to international markets and the preparation of a conference on incentives and cinematographic tourism.
