02/03/2019

In 2018, a total amount of 175 requests have been attended, of which 132 have been materialized: a 75%. Among all of them, a 26% have been managed together with Visit Benidorm.

Benidorm is not only sun and beach, there are also many kinds of attractions for audiovisual producers and tourists who are looking for the locations of their favorite films and TV series. For this reason, Benidorm is positioning itself in FITUR as screen tourism destination for producers, as well as for tourists.

Fitur Cine is a space located in the Pavilion number 2 of IFEMA that counts with the collaboration of Spain Film Commission, of which Benidorm is part. Specifically, the Benidorm Film Office takes part in the stand of the Autonomous Community of Valencia, together with Costa Blanca Film Commission, Valencia Film Office and Valencia Film Office.

The Major, Toni Pérez, has explained that “just as the numbers gathered during the last 5 years show: shootings of audiovisual productions have a direct economic impact in the city and it is a very important promotion. This is why we will keep on working in this direction to strengthen Benidorm as a film destination”. “But also, this commitment gives us the possibility to opt for this rising market segment: screen tourism”.

Coinciding with the celebration of FITUR, a new online catalog has been introduced to “count with new and attractive promotional material”, together with the great impact that the city is having as a set, as Rosa Llorca (responsible for Benidorm Film Office) said. A catalog that can be used “not only for the professionals of the audiovisual sector, but also to inspire the visitors that want to visit the place that they have seen in their favorite TV series and films”.

To create this catalog, “a work tool for this Film Office and Visit Benidorm”, they have been working together with the cooperative Makinacción thanks to a grant given by Alicante’s Provincial Council. Mrs. Llorca highlighted that this catalog counts with a “hand-picked” photography and visual material and also information about weather, gastronomy, accommodation offer and “all the products that make us different from the rest of film offices”.

In addition, “for the first time we have created a virtual map, s the producers and visitors will be able to easily know these locations. Initially five video clips, five TV series and five advertisements have been mapped”.

Furthermore, in this catalog a new figure has been added: the “Club Film Friendly”, which “emerges from the need of counting with private spaces to offer the producers not only the accommodation and catering services as usual”, explained by Carola Valls, technician of Marketing and Promotion in Visit Benidorm. Specifically, a new platform has been developed where every member offers his services and spaces and also a person to contact with when it is needed.
