Countdown to FITUR SCREEN 2021: the biggest event for film tourism in Spain

For the third consecutive year, the Spain Film Commission (SFC) will be present at the International Tourism Trade Fair with its FITUR SCREEN initiative, which connects the touristic and cinematographic industries spreading the knowledge about film tourism, the commercial exchange and exposing proposals for the development of the audiovisual sector in Spain. The activities will start from May 19th to 21st, including the ceremony award for the Best International Production and the designation of the new ambassador for the entity.

On Wednesday, May 19th, the president of the SFC, Carlos Rosado, will present the Spain Screen Grand Tour project with the intention of gathering and making available to visitors all the locations of some of the most emblematic series and films shot in Spain. On the same day, the film commissions from Navarra, Burgos, Cantabria and Castilla y León will show their new virtual initiatives and the film tours around their territories. On the other hand, the program “Landing Madrid” will explain the latest trend in the promotion and of film offices in the post-Covid era.

On Thursday, May 20th, FITUR SCREEN will host the presentation of the Global Report on the Impact of International Entertainment Services on Cultural Affinity and Tourism, carried out by Netflix and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

Afterwards, the film comissions and film offices from Zaragoza, La Rioja, Madrid, Valencia, Mallorca and Castilla-La Mancha will analyze their potential as locations for audiovisual projects and for film tourism. On the other hand, the Aragonese town of Sos del Rey Católico will present the project ‘100 years of Berlanga’, which pays tribute to the filmmaker on the centenary of his birth.

On Friday 21st the film offices from Valladolid and Terrassa will explain their experience as UNESCO Film Cities. The program will continue will a debate about the Audiovisual Hub, launched by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez last March. This project pursues the transformation of the image of Spain in the world.
