The monographic section specialized in film tourism will promote for the third consecutive year a segment with growing demand and new business opportunities.

In the next edition of FITUR, Spain Film Commission will present Screen Grand Tour, an innovative route in which the traveler will be able to visit several locations where movies and series have been filmed

IFEMA and Spain Film Commission have renewed their collaboration agreement for the organization, for the third consecutive year, of the monographic section specialized in film tourism FITUR SCREEN, within the framework of the next edition of the Fair Tourism International, FITUR, which will celebrate its "Special Recovery Tourism" edition from May 19 to 23, 2021, at Fair of Madrid. The signing of the agreement took place today in a ceremony that was attended by the General Director of IFEMA, Eduardo López-Puertas; the President of the Spain Film Commission, Carlos Rosado; the director of FITUR, María Valcarce, and the vice president of SFC, Teresa Azcona.

According to Eduardo López-Puertas, “FITUR SCREEN has become an innovative and effective platform that connects the tourism and film industries, enhancing knowledge of this growing tourist segment, commercial exchange and development proposals from both sectors. A segment that has proven to be a powerful tool for promoting tourism in a growing number of territories, and that thanks to the experience and collaboration of SFC, will have one of its best exponents in this extraordinary edition of FITUR, to offer new business opportunities and revitalization of international tourism activity. "

According to a study by TCI Research, 80 million travelers choose their destination based on movies and television series, and the number of people who travel to a destination after seeing it in a movie or television series has multiplied by two in the last 5 years.

Screen Grand Tour

In the next edition of FITUR, Spain Film Commission will present Screen Grand Tour, an innovative route in which the traveler will be able to visit the several locations where films and series have been filmed, throughout the entire national territory, according to Carlos Rosado. .

“Screen Tourism is not only a useful tool for tourism, but it also becomes an engine for the loyalty of Spanish locations as a destination for filming audiovisual works. This initiative, promoted since its inception by SFC, is also an opportunity for competent public agents in the development and promotion of the Spanish tourism industry, key to economic reactivation ”, says Rosado.

According to the President of the Spain Film Commission, “the expansive force of the images of audiovisual works shot in our country contributes to the positioning of the Spain brand and its audiovisual industry”. And "the Screen Tourism binomial closes the virtuous circle of the Spanish film industry and the activity of the Film Commissions and Film Offices integrated into the Spain Film Commission network".

Screen Grand Tour will also have the support of Netflix. Since 2016, the leading streaming entertainment service has promoted productions throughout Spain, bringing viewers from more than 190 countries closer to the diversity and richness of regions such as Andalusia, Aragon, Cantabria, Catalonia, Galicia, the Canary Islands and Navarra
