In 2018 the Asturian Public Film Commission accommadated a total of 28 audiovisual productions
Over the course of the past year, the Asturian Public Film Commission accommodated a total of 28 audiovisual productions, which has entailed a direct impact of 665,000 euros and an indirect impact of 2.2 million euros.
Among these recordings, feature films such as The Influence from Denis Rovira, Si yo fuera rico by Álvaro Fernández Armero, Aquilo que arde by Oliver Laxe or Legionarie’s trail: run or die by Daniel Hernández Torrado, advertising spots for international brands such as Samsung or Renault, or series such as Caronte of Telecinco, television shows like Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown from CNN and Trillion dollar planet from Amazon Prime Video, documentaries, videoclips and short films.
These data confirm the upward trend of the region as the setting for filming since the creation of the Film Commission in May 2016, a year in which four projects were accommodated. The Film Commission’s support of the producers, both through grants and in the process of permit management or logistical assistance, brings together the diversity of locations and the fabric of specialised professionals to turn the Principality of Asturias into one of the booming settings for the location of audiovisual productions.
Additionally, from its creation, the Asturian Film Commission has opted for promoting the talent of the region’s filmmakers with the granting of aid to non-fiction projects, which in 2018 were delivered to the works Cantares de una revolución by Ramón Lluís Bande and Lengua nativa by David Castro.
This year the Film Commission also collaborated with other cinematic projects such as the Industry Days that took place within the Gijon International Film Festival (FICX Industry Days), the International Film Festival about Industrial Heritage and Cultural Landscapes (INCUNA Film Festival) or the GAVA Awards of the Asturian audiovisual sector.
