Intense activity of the Spain Film Commission during August

Spain Film Commission continues working to position Spain internationally as a competitive shooting destination. Seizing the positive results obtained by the implemented strategies, the efforts are focused on improving the tax incentive system and the impulse of the film tourism.

An essential part of the activity is focussed on the professional sector and the production service companies. PROFILM, international association of Spanish audiovisual producers is a key player to improve the county’s competitiveness and in the meeting that was held with its leaders, it has been agreed to subscribe a collaboration agreement among institutions to establish a continued partnership and dialogue framework with the authorities.

On the 29th August in the Spanish Cultural Ministry a meeting took place with the director of the ICAA (Film and Audiovisual Arts Institute), Mrs Beatriz Navas. During this session, it was agreed to start up imminently the collaboration protocol between the Spain Film Commission and ICAA, which goal is going to be: improving the tax incentive system and its implementation. As well, they also addressed topics concerning to the collaboration between SFC and ICEX and Invest in Spain, focused on the attendance to international cinema markets also on following-up the Culture Plan for 2020, especially in everything that concerns the attraction and the facilitation of audiovisual shootings in Spain.

The meeting with the Tourism State Secretariat was also very productive. This gathering with Mrs Isabel Oliver took place in Palma de Mallorca on the 31st August with the presence of the Councillor of Finances of the Island Council, Cosme Bonet. They laid the foundations for the implementation of a Strategic Plan and a Film tourism website, in addition to the subscription of a collaboration agreement that contributes to make Spain become an important touristic destination related to the shootings made in this country.

September has started with a frenetic activity for SFC, specially focused on the participation in the next edition of the International Tourism Fair in Spain (Fitur) and the organization of some technical conferences in the International Cinema’s Week in Valladolid.
