Today kick-starts the 66th Edition of the San Sebastián International Film Festival, a festival of reference at national and European level

09/21/2018

This Festival is going to take place from the 21st to the 29th September and will be assisted by reputed cinema personalities, such as Danny DeVito, Hirozaku Koreeda, Judi Dench, Ricardo Darín or Isabelle Huppert.

The 66th San Sebastián International Film Festival kicks off today with the same aim as always: defend the best cinema (wherever it comes from) and promote plurality, parity and entertainment.

Among the most relevant films in this year’s Edition we can find: Quién te cantará by Carlos Vermut, El Reino by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, Entre dos aguas by Isaki Lacuesta or Marilyn by Martín Rodríguez Redondo. In addition, we can also find a huge variety of films coming from France, Germany, Latinamerica, USA and Israel, but with special emphasis on the Spanish cinema. Furthermore, the festival will count with a great variety of events: press conferences, breakfasts, meetings, speeches,...

One of the innovations which this festival edition will count with is its clear engagement to women’s inclusion in the cinematographic world with the signature of a commitment letter. We also have to highlight that four out of five films nominated for the Film Commission Award are directed by women.

Ultimately, this year’s festival aims to have a great reception, as much by San Sebastián as by the audience in general terms, and to keep doing a good work as they have been doing in the preceding editions.
